Skiing:

Skiing and Snowboarding are plentiful, popular and cheap in the Czech Republic. A ski pass costs around 300 crowns per day. The season lasts from late November to early April. The Krkonose Mountains have the best downhill skiing, while other ranges such as the Sumava in the West and South Bohemia and the Jizersky hory in North Bohemia have good cross-country skiing.

Swimming:

Sanitation can be a concern. Even local residents will tell you where you should or should not go. Bathing is “European,” meaning you are expected to shower before you enter the pool and you will certainly want to rinse very well after swimming. Take “shower shoes,” as most facilities will expect you to take off your outside shoes before you enter the swimming area. A bag in which to carry your toiletries is a good idea, since the shower area may not be separate from the dressing room. Lockers should not be considered secure. In summer, do not be surprised to see women swimming or sunbathing topless at outdoor pools.
